Testimonials

“Michael Jauchen is a superb editor, and I'm grateful for his work on two book projects. He not only transformed my writing into clean, polished copy, he also made suggestions for important structural improvements. He is a genuine pleasure to work with, and his way of communicating somehow makes you feel great about your writing even though the point is focusing on mistakes. Mike made my work better, and I'd recommend him for any type of project, large or small, and especially to anyone who hasn't yet experienced what a difference it makes to be in the hands of a trustworthy and sympathetic editor.”

-Elizabeth Catte, author of What You Are Getting Wrong about Appalachia and Pure America (Belt Publishing)

“I worked with Michael on a major book project for several months and recommend him most enthusiastically. What makes him so fantastic and unique? First, he is a brilliant developmental editor. He dives deeply into the material, offers engaging, detailed comments, and comes up with great suggestions for organizing material in highly effective ways. While the content of the book was far from Mike’s area of expertise, he got to know my ideas so well that he was able to offer suggestions that enhanced and even expanded them. Second, Mike is just as thorough and skillful with his stylistic editing. I also appreciated the way he adjusted his style of editing to my suggestions. Third, Mike is quick, always reliable, and flexible with the timing of returning materials. He is completely trustworthy and has a very fair pricing system. After being burnt by two previous editors who overcharged me, working with Mike gave me complete peace of mind. All these characteristics together make Mike the best editor I have ever met, and I will definitely continue to work with him. The book manuscript we collaborated on was so successful that it came under contract at Princeton University Press.”
